Our work experience student Grace had a fantastic time modelling for our Sweet Sixteen Photography portfolio!  “It was an amazing day and I’m so pleased with the photos!”  Grace got involved in preparations for our launch party, so has learned as much about wallpapering and event-planning as she has about photography!

. . . We have lift-off!! . . .  Operation Sweet Sixteen has been a massive undertaking over the past month or so. We finally had everything in place for the launch party yesterday, even if we did have only one second to spare (literally, we were still doing the finishing touches to our make-up when our guests started to arrive!).The launch prompted us to completely decorate the shop (inside and out!) in time for us to unveil the photo’s and products to our guests and models. All of us here were stacked up against it, the huge to do list and the very short space of time in which to finish it all was manic, (to say the least), but, true to form we managed it.

The party was a huge success and everyone had a lovely time. It seems there’s lots of interest out there for Sweet Sixteen Photography, and all of us here at Studio Rochford are very enthusiastic and exhilarated about its future!

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all our photoshoot suppliers ~ based here in Rochford. Ellis Hairdressing, Rio, Purple Rose and The Lawn have all been amazingly supportive and we couldn’t have done it without their help…. And of course our sincerest thanks to our beautiful and handsome models, they were brilliant!

We have designed a totally new exciting product. The first of its kind in the UK, (that we know of) which, offers to capture the celebration of this chapter in your life.

We are offering a photo-shoot with a difference!

Using one of Essex premier venues, we will bring out the inner fashion model as we produce glamorous portraits of you in your prom attire. Then a quick change into casual clothes for relaxed, fun photos with the friends who share your life. Finally we explore your interests and capture the creative, sporty, talented you!

We’ve been painting, wallpapering, scrubbing floors, cleaning, tidying, ordering, assembling, collecting….preparing for our Launch Party at Studio Rochford, 1 West Street, Rochford on Friday 30th April at 4.30pm!

The jobs have gradually been ticked off the list and it’s all beginning to come together!

We are so excited for the launch ~ we hope to see you there!

One very organised Dad managed to sneak his gorgeous 3 children into the studio without his wife knowing!  The children were fantastic models and even better, managed to keep the surprise from their Mum too!  Dad chose a fantastic acrylic frame complete with 9 photos ~ a wonderful gift for Mum!

We haven’t had much time to update the blog lately as we are busy working away on a fantastic new product to be launched later this month!  We are SO excited about our new project and can’t wait to go public on it!!  But for now…there’s more to be organised…so we’ll report back as soon as we can!!!  Meanwhile, here’s a photo of a lovely local venue called The Lawn.

Sally & I are spending the week at Roaches Hall in Buxton with PRGH Phototraining. Paul RG Haley is a Fellow of the Master Photographers Association and one of only three civilian photographers to land on the Falklands Islands and cover the conflict in 1982. Paul specialises in one on one training, but luckily for us has organised a week long course, supported by colleagues with technical expertise in areas from studio lighting to SEO to post production techniques. We have been here for just over 24 hours and already have brain-ache!!

Here are a few shots from the first session with our lovely model Charlie. We are proofing on the laptop - so hopefully they look OK - butI have a feeling we might look at them again once we get on to our callibrated monitors!!

Ellie-Mae & Alexander came in for a portrait sitting and unusually for Alexander he decided that posing for the camera was much too boring - so we played hide and seek instead. I still haven’t figured out why he couldn’t see me from behind the big black box in front of my face - but don’t much care - because it seemed to work!

Unfortunately quite a lot at the moment if you are my friend and fellow photographer David Calvert.

David has just discovered this in light of the recent stories run in the daily papers suggesting that Jon Venables (who was convicted of murdering Jamie Bulger) was going by the name of David Calvert. Since then David’s photography site has had over 50,000 hits. Normally we’d be thrilled that his site is so popular, but at the moment he is obviously very concerned.

As his colleagues we are doing all we can to help David disassociate himself from this dreadful story. He is in no way  related to David Calvert of Fleetwood, who has also been highlighted in the press and is in no way connected to the tragic case of Jamie Bulger.

David, 46,  is a national award winning photographer and his business David Calvert Photography, based in Hertfordshire, specialises in family and child portraiture. David has our complete support in these difficult circumstances and we hope very much that they pass without impact to him, his own family or his business.
