I first met Kay several years ago at her boss, Anna’s wedding which I also photographed. When we met up again Kay told me that one of the reasons for choosing me was that I could work with indoor spaces, something she had noted in Anna’s photographs. That was going to be important because she and Andrew had chosen the brand new Holiday Inn in Southend as their wedding venue, a very modern indoor space indeed!
Where did your wedding take place and what made the venue special?
The Holiday Inn Southend, local to where we live which was important to us. Noi, the Holiday Inn events organiser was fantastic.
Did you have a theme for your wedding? What was your colour scheme?
Pinks and butterflies.
Tell us a little about your dress, where did you finally find it?
Quite a classic fairy tale type dress, sweetheart neck line with lace overlay on top half, diamonte detail at waist with full tulle skirt trimmed with scalloped lace. Only went to two shops…..my fave by far was bridal boutique where I found it. Staff were amazing and so helpful, professional and friendly.
What did the men opt for, and who supplied it?
Light grey almost silver suit, from Next. We bought instead of hired to avoid any extra fees and it was quite a bit cheaper doing it this way.
Can you tell me about your flowers?
Artificial to avoid any bruising or wilting. A mixture of hot pink, blush pink and white with diamontes in the centre of each flower and hot pink ribbon trim around the stems.
What are your wedding rings like? Did you have any other special jewellery?
Mine was made to fit around my engagement ring with stones from the first ring Andrew ever bought me the first Christmas we were together. The stones (and some of the gold) where my something old. Andrew’s was a plain band.
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
Wedding fayres and two magazines, Perfect Wedding and Wedding Ideas.
Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
Laceys Events Services did our wedding décor and bridal bouquets. They went above and beyond the place looked amazing and the flowers were perfect. Everything looked better than I could ever have imagined. Also Boutique Booths photo booth. Great staff , we got some amazing fun shots presented beautifully in a album
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Pre planning and pay as you go along to avoid massive end bill…..we found weddings really do bring out the worst in people. At the end of the day…it’s your day no one else’s. Do what makes you happy and your day memorable.
What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
Such a difficult choice, one is of us in the park Andrew has his back to me and we are looking at each other and one the shots of us on the stairs at the end of the night the lighting is amazing. So many amazing pictures really caught the atmosphere of the day. I also love the one of my Dad after his speech.
Was Studio Rochford the right photographer for you?
Definitely, I knew years before we were even engaged we would have Jo, she bends over backwards and goes above and beyond for you. So professional and catches all the great moments of the day……also fixes your dress when someone breaks your skirt hook loop lol!
