Hannah and Adam’s wedding took place on a beautiful autumn day at Hylands House, Chelmsford. Here Hannah tells us about the preparations in the run up to the wedding and the day itself.
Where did your wedding take place and what made the venue special?
Hylands House in Chelmsford – When we first saw the venue, the decor and surroundings it had a wow factor that made this venue our absolute favourite. We knew that we had to book it then and there!
What was your colour scheme for your wedding?
Navy blue and ivory – my favourite colours
Tell us about the process of choosing your dress? Was it the first one you tried on or did you change your mind numerous times?
I booked a day off work to go dress shopping in my home town Ipswich with my mum and little sister. I’m an indecisive person so knew that choosing the right dress would be a challenge. However the whole experience I was given in ‘Just a Day’ helped me in selecting my dress. It was my mum who found the dress and it wasn’t until I put it on that my little sister had goose pimples and I knew that this was the right one!
Where did your groom get his morning suit?
Adam got his suit from River Island – he actually bought two, one to match the best men and an identical suit but in navy blue. He didn’t tell me which one he was going to wear as wanted it to be surprise when i met him at the end of the aisle!
What are your wedding rings like? Did you have any other special jewellery?
Our rings both came from ROX jewellers which was where Adam got my engagement ring. Adam chose a simple platinum band and I opted for diamonds to give it extra sparkle!
We didn’t have any other special jewellery.
Can you tell me about your flowers?
My flowers came from a local florist ‘Out of the Earth’ in Southend. I opted for a loose posy of cream roses, lisianthus, freesias and had a hint of blue monks head and a couple of pearls dotted through in keeping with my wedding scheme. The bridesmaids had matching posy’s with just cream flowers and the flower girls had a gyspiphilla wand each.
You had some beautiful details for your reception. What was the inspiration behind them?
I wanted to add some personalised vintage style elements to our wedding – so we decided upon birdcage centrepieces which my mother-in-law decorated. I made some origami bluebirds and we continued our vintage scheme with some luggage label style name places which Adam created. One of my favourite details was our typewriter for guests to type their messages to us rather than using a guestbook.
Did you buy each other wedding gifts?
I bought Adam a tie pin to wear on the wedding day. Adam bought me a piece of pottery from a small studio in Leigh which I love.
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
Magazines and my iPad which i was glued on each night. My sister bought me a years subscription to a wedding magazine and it was from there that I got a lot of ideas for the reception details.
Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
Limeberry catering – Justin and Angela provided some delicious food. They were very attentive and helped us select our perfect menu.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Relax and enjoy every moment!
What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
My favourite photo was outside the front of Hylands, by the impressive cream pillars. I felt like lord and lady of the manor!! We used this photo for our thank you cards.
Was Studio Rochford the right photographer for you?
Definitely! We saw Jo’s work at the Hylands wedding fayre and after meeting with a couple of other photographers we knew that Jo was our favourite! We felt lucky to share the day with Jo and her husband and looking back at the photos we are so pleased with our choice.
