Essex wedding venue Layer Marney Tower lays claim to being not just one of Essex’s, but one of the country’s most dramatic buildings. Built during the reign of King Henry XIII and visited by him, we’re only glad he didn’t get married there himself at any point – or today’s brides might worry about a legacy!
Set in the heart of the Essex countryside Layer Marney Tower is a truly unique venue which offers exclusive use. After arriving in style in The Maythorn – Layer Marney Tower’s 1931 Rolls Royce, which is made available to you as part of your wedding package, your wedding ceremony can be in one of three licensed room, depending on the number of guests you wish to invite. The Corsellis Room which can be seen in the slideshow above has original wattle and daub walls and beamed ceiling which gives a lovely open airy feeling.
The gardens are ideally positioned to enjoy during your drinks reception. They give endless photographic opportunities for both family groups and for lovely bride and groom shots, before you head inside for your wedding breakfast in the very aptly named Long Gallery.
One of the most exciting additions to Layer Marney Tower is the new accommodation – six “Glamping” encampments!! Yes of course – there is a stunning indoor bridal suite – the de Zoete rooms, with four poster bed, double ended bath and massive walk in shower – but you could have the most romantic wedding night ever glamping under the stars!! That said, there’s a static bike for you to generate your own electricity supply – suddenly the bridal suite looks even better!!
