Jane & Ollie were married at the very beautiful Gaynes Park Epping, in April.
We were incredibly lucky to have the most amazing spring day and were able to make the most of the gorgeous grounds for their wedding photographs. I also got to work alongside one of my favourite videographers, David from Rideout Films, who kindly help me balance on benches and pulled me back over a fence when gravity didn’t work quite as expected!
We asked Jane to tell us about the things that made her wedding day unique.
Where did your wedding take place and what made the venue special?
Gaynes Park, Epping. It was the first venue we saw and we fell in love with it straight away. A traditional venue with a modern feel – it was perfect for us.
Did you have a theme for your wedding? What was your colour scheme?
We didn’t have a theme or colour scheme. Fortunately we both had the same things in mind and agreed on the décor, flowers, cake and everything really.
Tell us a little about your dress, where did you finally find it?
I found the dress in the first shop I went in but in Champagne. It was beautiful but I wanted to stick to a more traditional colour. Bridal Boutique in Southend managed to get hold of the dress for me in Ivory and instantly I knew it was the one.
Bridal Boutique also managed find my head dress that I was struggling to find – I had fallen in love with one in another shop that refused to sell it to me as I hadn’t bought my dress there.
What did the men opt for, and who supplied it?
For the men we went to Anthony’s in Billericay. We opted for blue 3 piece suits – we rented the wedding party’s but Ollie had his made to measure.
The staff were excellent – 2 of our ushers live abroad and one didn’t arrive until the day before the wedding but it wasn’t an issue for them at all.
Can you tell me about your flowers?
For Flowers we used Scent. Not only were they on Gaynes Park preferred suppliers list but they are our local florist and had done a friend’s wedding.
I can’t praise Stephen and Scent enough – we had a rough idea of what we wanted and Stephen’s knowledge and advice made the process easy. Everyone commented on the spectacular arrangements particularly the top table arrangement that impressively run across the whole table.
What are your wedding rings like? Did you have any other special jewellery?
For rings we used CJ Vintens – Leigh-on-Sea.
When Ollie was trying to find an engagement ring he was confused and overwhelmed by all the jewellers in Hatton Garden. Ollie’s Dad recommend Chris Vinten, a family friend.
Together Ollie and Vinten’s manage to design my stunning engagement ring that I couldn’t be happier with.
It was a no brainer to return to Vinten’s for both our wedding rings. It’s a family run business with impeccable service.
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
Recommendations without a doubt. It’s always easier to make a decision if someone has used their service and has positive feedback.
Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
Your wedding is such an important day that takes months or even years of planning.
Everyone tells you how the day will go so quickly.
Because of this Studio Rochford and Rideout films capturing our special day from us getting ready in the morning until the party was in full swing was so important to us. We could not be happier with the outcome from both.
You’re on such a high from your wedding and honeymoon the incredible turn around helped curb our wedding blue with the excitement of getting to see our wedding film and photos when we got home.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Just to stay relaxed and enjoy planning – it’s a lot of fun if you don’t allow yourself to get stressed out.
What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
I have several favourites but if I had to choose one it would be a black and white shot taken during Ollie’s speech with us both smiling at one another. The speeches are often my favourite part of a wedding and the speeches at ours didn’t disappoint.
Was Studio Rochford the right photographer for you?
There was never any doubt that Studio Rochford was the photographer for us.
They had photographed several of our friend’s weddings so when it came to our turn we didn’t need to look anywhere else.
From our first meeting with Jo with felt comfortable and completely confident in her abilities.
It’s not an easy job to get the wedding party where you need them to be when they are mingling amongst 130+ guests but Jo managed it with ease.
Knowing the venue and after having an engagement shoot and a meeting with us Jo knew exactly what we wanted and had some ideas of her own also. We were happy to follow Jo’s advice and was over the moon with the outcome. We have some stunning photos from the evening where Jo set some lighting up in the walled gardens – despite it raining these photos are some of my favourites from the day.
