While we were on holiday the London & Essex Professional Photographers MPA & BIPP held its annual print competition and I’m delighted to say that I did rather well.
I was placed 1st, 2nd. 3rd and a merit in Documentary Wedding, the second time that I’ve managed a clean sweep. I also gained 3rd place and a merit in Creative Wedding and 2nd place in the Newborn photography category.
It was particularly important to me to do well this year as I have made a decision to step back from the business and to hand it over in its entirety to my fiancé Steve. It took me a while to find the right guy to get married to; so that I could make sure my business would be in safe hands 😉 Steve is a fabulous photographer who has run a hugely successful photography business in the Lake District for more than 20 years. I am incredibly lucky to be able to pass Studio Rochford on to him and I know that everything that I have worked hard for will continue to flourish. From now on I will simply be the person behind our social media accounts and website and occasionally I’ll second shoot.
The reason for doing this is very simple. I have advanced kidney cancer. I am fine. I am well. I am not dying. I have lived and worked with my cancer for 21 months now. I won’t get better, (unless there’s a miracle cure) but I am very, very stable. I’m on daily treatment and I’m monitored every single month. The NHS is my miracle. I have various other projects that I want to pursue and this has given me the proverbial kick up the bottom to do so.
I have spoken with my couples who I am already committed to for the next 18 months and I’d like to publicly express how grateful I am for the kindness that you have shown me. The competition results are for you. I want you to know without any shadow of a doubt that you will still get me working to the very top of my game.
Thank you so much to all of our customers past and present, for all of the support that you’ve given my business, I know that you’ll continue to do the same for Steve. It’s been lovely to get to know so many of you and to see your families grow. I hope that we’ve been able to give you many, many happy memories through your photographs.
