It was pretty in Pink for Penny & James springtime vintage themed wedding at Pontlands Park, Great Baddow. Here Penny tells us about the preparations for their wedding which made it personal and very special for them.
Where did your wedding take place and what made the venue special?
Pontlands Park Hotel, the venue was special because it was a small and elegantly decorated – perfect for the theme of our wedding.
Did you have a theme for your wedding? What was your colour scheme?
Vintage, white and soft pinks
Tell us about the process of choosing your dress? Was it the first one you tried on or did you change your mind numerous times?
Was the first one I tried on, I tried a few others but went back to it. It was a very unique dress.
Where did your groom get his morning suit?
Jack Bunney’s (Barking)
Can you tell me about your flowers?
Beautiful and plentiful white and soft pink arrangements by Caroline. Went perfect with the vintage theme.
Your cake was lovely, can you tell us a little about it?
The little pop cake shop did an amazing job on my cake. I wanted a vintage looking cake that was simple, with lace. The sugar roses on the top were outstanding.
What are your wedding rings like? Did you have any other special jewellery?
They were simple white gold bands, exactly what we wanted.
Did you buy each other wedding gifts?
I bought my groom a pocket watch and he bought me a vintage looking ring.
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
Aside from Kelly, who worked round the clock to make sure my cake was perfect, we would have to say Jo. She is so welcoming into her home, making you feel comfortable throughout the whole process and explaining the events of the day perfectly. Kept myself and my groom very calm. Kind, welcoming and professional.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Order your wedding dress for earliest possible delivery to avoid the troubles I experience with shipment. Most brides don’t realise that some dress can have a 8 month lead time.
What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
My favourite photograph was the one of James pointing his finger at me when I began giggling at him for having trouble saying his vows, he was so nervous and it was really sweet and emotional.
Was Studio Rochford the right photographer for you?
Absolutely, it’s one of the most important days of your life and you want the best.
